Vampires

Creatures > Vampires

The vampire is a far more fearsome creature than the werewolf. We may have some sympathy for the werewolf, feel that he is misunderstood, and a potential friend of humanity (I imagine it's the dog thing), but the vampire is always portrayed as evil. The most famous vampire is, of course, Dracula, a Transylvanian Count who lived in the 15th century, but the idea of a vampire dates back to the earliest days of human civilization, to ancient Mesopotamia. Indeed, Lilith, who appears in the Old Testament of the Bible, is said to have been a vampire.

Vampire tales appear in many parts of the world, and some scholars believe arose independently in different places.

Of course, we can't talk about vampires without mentioning Buffy the Vampire Slayer! A show I love, may I say. Also the spin-off, Angel.
