That may sound a strange, and maybe inexplicable, category, but I'm referring to a type of book -- usually fantasy -- where the language is lyrical (if not poetic). They're probably the sort of books that would talk about faerie! (but not in any twee way). It's a hard style to pull off successfully, but the defining feature is that you don't want the story to end, because it's all about the journey, not what happens in the end. If any of you have seen the TV version of Brideshead Revisited, you'll probably know what I mean -- my father sat there griping throughout, waiting for something to happen, while my mother and I were entranced.
